Behind "Only You"

two years and lots of friends!

Hi Lovelies,

If you haven’t heard by now, we released a new song called “Only You”

This song is a special one, with a long timeline behind it, so I thought I’d share all the special moments that brought us here.

AUGUST 2021

The band takes some of Gep’s demos to Nashville for a summer sesh in Violet’s home. We work with Johnny “The Wizard” Hopson of Future Crib. No one calls him the wizard, but they should. We spend most of the week working on Only You, taking the song far out and then reeling it back a little. We try to do a four-part harmony for like three hours and then give up. The spacey middle section of the song was born here. Gep turns 21 and shaves their head!

APRIL 2022

A few months pass and we are back from a month-long tour. We decided to hop in the studio (Big Trouble, where we made IEFIADW) with TJ and Dan, just to get our juices flowing. Dan suggests that we live-track Only You. We did, and that’s the version all y’all hear now.

JANUARY 2023

So, nearly a year later, we want a visual for the song, and we look no further than Meg and Hudson. This trusty duo brought us the Gears video, and we were down to get freaky with them again. We ventured to Hudson’s Papaw’s farm in Greenville, TN for a VERY cold and VERY fun weekend of shooting. We set up camp, stood in the snowy woods, ate a lot of farro, and drove the 4-wheeler. Nothin’ like feeling the wind hit your face in 17°weather :-D. Did I mention we were cold??
